Dr. Danielle Walters, Chair Elect

Dr. Danielle Walters has spent her academic career studying world languages and cultures. She holds an M.A. in French Literature from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a Ph.D. in Romance Language Studies from the University of Georgia, where she wrote her dissertation on the influence of French, Spanish, and Italian literature in the English prose of Ernest Hemingway. During her studies, she traveled extensively across Europe and Central America, studying, working, living, playing guitar and singing.

After years teaching world languages to students of all ages and linguistic levels from pre-K to university students to non-traditional older language learners, she transitioned out of the classroom and into the world of International Education, returning to her native East Tennessee to serve as Director of International Programs at Lincoln Memorial University. She has recently returned to her alma mater of UT to take on a new role as Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Manager in the Center for Global Engagement. She is thrilled with the new position and also excited to continue her work with TAIE and support the International Education community in our great state of Tennessee.
